Why renters choose Balaclava

Carlisle Street does everything

One strip covers groceries, a chemist, the post office, bakeries, delis and dinner. Kosher bakeries sit next to Israeli cafes, Vietnamese takeaway and long-running local cafes, and it is one of the most genuinely diverse food streets in Melbourne. Wall Two 80 at number 280 is the one people tend to end up at.

Fourteen minutes to Flinders Street

Balaclava station is on the Sandringham line and the run into the city takes about fourteen minutes. That is a serious advantage over most bayside suburbs, and it is the thing professionals notice first when they compare Balaclava to somewhere further down the line.

Quiet streets, close to everything

Buildings are typically low rise, three or four storeys, on the streets running off Carlisle Street. Alma Park sits on the edge of the suburb with a playground and tennis courts. St Kilda beach is a ten minute walk or one tram, and Chapel Street is about the same by bike.
