A market, a high street, and the CBD next door.
← All suburb guidesHybrid Real Estate leases and manages fully-furnished, move-in ready homes in South Melbourne, Victoria 3205. It is the closest suburb we cover to the CBD, with a working high street, a genuine produce market and a mix of Victorian terraces and modern apartments. Homes come styled and equipped, so you can arrive with a suitcase and be settled the same night.
South Melbourne Market is open several days a week and it is used properly by the people who live here, not by tour groups. Living a few streets from it changes how you shop and how you eat, which is a bigger deal than it sounds when you are new to a city.
A complete high street in the old sense: supermarkets, cafes, pubs, restaurants and services, with trams running its length straight into the city. You can do a full week here without getting in a car.
Southbank, the Domain precinct and the edge of the CBD are all a short tram ride or a genuine walk. For anyone working in the city this is the shortest commute on our list after South Yarra.

A few homes from our furnished portfolio. Styling and layout vary by property.
South Melbourne furnished rentals split between modern apartments in the newer buildings toward Southbank and City Road, and furnished Victorian terraces and warehouse conversions in the older grid around Clarendon and Cecil Streets. One and two bedroom apartments dominate. Corporate tenants make up a solid share of this market.
Trams 12, 96 and 1 all serve the suburb, and the 96 light rail is the fastest route into the CBD at around 10 minutes. Southern Cross station is a short tram ride. Freeway access via the West Gate is close.
Every home we lease in South Melbourne is managed by our own team, not outsourced. It is one of the best suburbs we cover for that. Trams run constantly and many tenants walk or ride into the city in under 25 minutes.
